Murphy Outguns them all at Stamullen

Conor Murphy, Murphy & Gunn, claimed another major victory at the Joey Whyte Memorial race at Stamullen, Co Meath on Sunday last. Conor, fully recovered from a heavy cold and showing the form gained from recent trips abroad, racing in south Africa and Serbia, was head and shoulders above the rest of the field.
With 7 miles remaining, Conor jumped clear of a 12 man lead group. However he was chased down and caught by 4 riders, including Tommy Evans, Terry Dolan. Com, Ryan Connor, Ballymena Road club and Martin Irvine Ards CC.
Determined to take a solo victory the inform Murphy attacked again and this time made a decisive move which took him all the way to the finish line to win a race that he also won in 2004.
Tommy Evans was 2nd, Ryan Connor 3rd and Martin Irvine 4th, making it a clean sweep of the placing by Ulster riders.

Weekend racing
The Easter weekend is a busy one on the racing calendar. Connor will be competing in Ras Na Muhann, a tough 3 day event in the south. This race has attracted teams from Holland and Germany along with UK visitors and the best of the domestic riders.
Paul Mulligan meanwhile will race closer to home in the 5 day Tour of The North, also a demanding stage race, which will also include some top class riders from abroad.
